Question of the Day - The Educated Woman

Have women over-educated and professionalized themselves out of marriage?

I am continually amazed at the rate of women who are currently unmarried in today's society. Progressive feminism has opened many corporate doors that were closed once upon a time for women to pursue. In addition, many of today's women have taken advantage of educational opportunities and now outpace their male counterparts in a tremendous way. What does this mean for successful relationships and marriage? Absolutely nothing! Unfortunately for women, there is no correlation between being educated and professionally successful, and receiving the mate that so many desire to be blessed with.

I reflect back on my days as a youth (1970's and 1980's) and wonder why this issue didn't seem to be a problem back then. Have women over-educated and professionalized themselves out of marriage?

Hmmmm.....

I think it's a two-part problem. Some women have elevated themselves and let their pride get in the way. Meaning that they refuse to accept someone whose background or educational level is different than their own. Additionally, some men have become intimidated by women with these new achievements. Some men won't approach, date and subsequently won't marry women who seem "fine all by themselves." It's quite a shame because God teaches us that we each possess something that's different from the other. What a man has, a woman needs. What a woman has, a man needs. There are certain characteristics that one party possesses that the other party needs in marriage. It should all come down to a self-less love union blessed by God. (Disclaimer: Of course, no one wants someone who is lazy or lacks motivation to better himself or herself, but truly, we should deny our pride ladies and not be intimidated men and seek God's face in the matter.)

Greetings all....I just want to add this thought...

If, and only if, certain educated women have placed themselves in a category based on their education, please be cautious. It may be possible that they have closed their hearts and minds to who God has designed for them. An awesome scripture reference is I Corinthians 8:1-3. This passage teaches how knowledge produces a "puffed" spirit. Lets be careful not to "idolize" ourselves to the point where were we won't receive our blessings......

I personally applaud anyone that seek to make a better life for themselves, whether it is female or male. Remember, there was a time when we could't go to school and get a education so take advanage of the opportunities that we have now. There is no need to feel intimidated by ANYONE. Find out what you are good at and work on perfecting those talents. Besides, we all have something to offer. So ladies and Gentleman, strive to be the best that you can be in life. According to Joshua 1-8 we can all be successful if we apply the word of God to our life. Be bless, don't be stress because you are the best!!
